Posted on Januari 22, 2023 by min

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 120 individuals were detained in connection with illegal gambling nationwide.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the suspects – 115 men and five women – were picked up by Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in an operation codenamed Ops Limau between Jan 15 and 19.

“The CID also seized RM92,481 cash believed to be proceeds from illegal gambling following 20 raids.

“The cases are being investigated under Section 6(1) and Section 7(2) of the Open Gaming House Act 1953,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Ops Limau will be conducted until Jan 28 to curb illegal gambling activities during the Chinese New Year period, she said.

“The CID, at federal, state and district level are involved in Ops Limau.

“Stern action will be taken against anyone involved in illegal gambling,” she added.

DCP Noorsiah urged those with information on illegal gambling to contact the Ops Limau WhatsApp hotline at 016-5773477.
