MELAKA: The national level Malaysia Day 2022 celebrations at the Independence Proclamation Memorial Square, Banda Hilir here was an awesome success, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said.
He said the event went well, was festive and managed to successfully interpret the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family).
The Main Committee for National Day and Malaysia Day 2022 Celebration chairman said that Melaka’s choice as host was in line with its status as the country’s main tourism state.
“I think tonight’s performance in terms of a celebration was awesome, as it reflected the various races in Sabah, Sarawak and the Peninsular,” he told reporters after the celebrations ended on Friday (Sept 16) night.
He said the theme for the 60s outfits and the ethnic costumes were a hit as visitors enjoyed the spectacle.
He said that the response was overwhelming, with visitors exceeding the initial target of 20,000 people and the wide screens around the location of the celebrations allowed visitors to be entertained during the event.
Annuar added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob conveyed his congratulations and thanks to all participants, volunteers and event organisers on the successful organisation of the event.
“Everyone was entertained, dignitaries and visitors alike. Thanks to all the musicians and artistes as well as participants who joined in the procession. Everything went well, there were no big obstacles, in fact even the weather tonight was good.
“It will be such a sweet memory for our country, from Perlis to Sabah,” he added. – Bernama
