Another school in Selangor slammed over Tamil subject

A SECONDARY school in Kajang, Selangor, is the latest to face criticism for not allowing Indian students to take the Tamil language subject for SPM, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Parents who spoke to the daily said there were 28 Indian students attending Tamil classes since Form Four.

However, the newly-transferred principal ordered the students to return the Tamil language books to the school, the parents were reported to have said.

This made it impossible for the students to continue the classes and prepare for the paper, the parents said, claiming that Tamil language classes had been conducted in the school over the past 25 years.

They urged the state Education Department and Education Ministry to act on the matter.

The daily had reported recently that a school in Bestari Jaya, also in Selangor, allegedly refused to allow SPM students in the Science stream to take the Tamil subject, and 120 students were unable to organise Tamil classes due to not having a qualified teacher at another school in Teluk Intan, Perak.
