PETALING JAYA: After a long weekend of celebrations, traffic along the East Coast Highway was heavy and congested as holidaymakers made their way back to the capital city.
Following the school and New Year’s Day holidays, many returned from their hometowns after the yearend break.
Students will go back to school as the 2022/2023 school term resumes today.
In a Twitter post, the Malaysian Highway Authority said traffic from the East Coast Highway to Kuala Lumpur as at 7.07pm was at a crawl with bumper-to-bumper traffic.
It added that motorists had to endure an 8km crawl from Bentong to Bukit Tinggi in Pahang and an 18km-long congestion starting from KM38.6 of the highway to the Gombak toll plaza.
