A DURIAN lover shared her love for the king of fruits when she threw a pulut durian (glutinous rice served with durian) party for villagers at the Kampung Laut Heritage Site in Tumpat, Kelantan, according to Harian Metro.
Wan Zuraini Wan Hasan, 36, who hosted the party with her husband Mohd Sufian Mat, 33, was delighted that 1,000 people had flooded the spot to devour 1.6 tonnes of durian in two hours on Thursday afternoon.
“I am a native of Kampung Laut, and the heritage site is a tourist location, so I chose to organise the pulut durian festival here,” she said, adding that news of the event had spread via social media a few days prior to it.
Wan Zuraini, who spent RM10,000 for the feast, said she had gone to Raub and Damak in Pahang to get the durians from two suppliers.
> Nor Hidayah Abdul Moin who used to boil fish for her family has turned her cooking into a money-making venture, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“Over time, I started thinking of commercialising it. Alhamdulillah, after 15 years, my business is doing well,” said the 43-year-old from Kampung Gajah, Perak.
When she started out in 2008, Nor Hidayah said she could sell only 30kg of fish a day. Today, her sales hit 300kg to 500kg each day.
