The number of new COVID-19 cases reported daily in Malaysia continue to be encouraging, remaining at double digits, with 88 recorded today.

Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the double digit daily number of cases which is now in its eighth consecutive day involves 13 imported cases, bringing the cumulative number to 5,691 cases.

Last week, the number of daily positive COVID-19 cases showed the double-digit trend with 71 cases reported yesterday, 50 on April 22,  57 (April 21), 36 (April 20), 84 (April 19), 54 (April 18) and 69 (April 17).

Meanwhile, he said there were 121 reported recovered cases which were allowed to be discharged today, bringing the cumulative number of fully recovered cases to 3,663 or 64.4 per cent of the total number of positive COVID-19 cases.

“So, the number of active cases with infectivity of COVID-19 infection is 1,932 cases. They have been isolated and given treatment,” he said in a press conference on the latest development of COVID-19 here today.
