PETALING JAYA: Malaysia detected 160 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Feb 12), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,039,486 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry’s KKMNow portal reported that 159 of Sunday’s new Covid-19 cases were locally transmitted while there was one imported infection.
The portal also reported that recoveries continued to outpace new infections, with 358 individuals recovering from Covid-19 on Sunday.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in Malaysia to 4,993,134 since the pandemic began.
As at 11.59pm Sunday, there were 9,401 active Covid-19 infections in Malaysia, with 9,068 patients, or 96.5% of active cases, observing home quarantine.
KKMNow reported that 324 Covid-19 patients, or 3.4%, were seeking treatment at hospitals while nine individuals were in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide.
Of those in ICU as at 11.59pm Sunday, five were unventilated while four required ventilator support.
The portal also reported that Malaysia’s current hospital utilisation rate stood at 73.2% while the ICU utilisation rate was at 64% as at 11.59pm Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s GitHub data repository reported that there were no deaths due to Covid-19 reported on Sunday.
The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Malaysia remains at 36,951 since the pandemic began.
