PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 269 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday (Feb 9), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,038,812 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry’s KKMNow portal reported that 268 of Thursday’s new Covid-19 cases were locally transmitted while there was one imported infection.
Recoveries outpaced new infections with KKMNow reporting that 375 individuals recovered from Covid-19 infections on Thursday.
As at 11.59pm Thursday, there were 9,786 active infections in the country with 9,391, or 96%, observing home quarantine.
A total of 387 Covid-19 patients, or 4% of active cases, were being treated at hospitals nationwide while there were eight individuals in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide.
Of those in ICU as at 11.59pm Thursday, four were unventilated while four required ventilator support.
KKMNow also reported that the country’s current hospital utilisation rate stands at 74.8% while the utilisation rate for ICUs nationwide is at 65.2%.
Meanwhile, data from the Health Ministry’s GitHub repository shows that there no deaths recorded due to Covid-19 as at 11.59pm Thursday.
This leaves the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in the country at 36,946 since the pandemic began.
