PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 269 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Jan 29), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,036,140 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry’s KKMNow portal reported that 266 of Sunday’s new cases were locally transmitted while there were three imported infections.
Recoveries continued to outpace new cases, with 285 individuals recovering from Covid-19 infections on Sunday.
There are currently 9,480 active Covid-19 infections in Malaysia, as at 11.59pm Sunday, with 9,088, or 95.9%, observing home quarantine.
A total of 371 individuals, or 3.9% of active cases, are currently seeking treatment at hospitals nationwide while 21 were being treated at intensive care units (ICU) as at 11.59pm Sunday.
Of those in ICU, 14 require ventilator support while seven are unventilated.
Malaysia’s current hospital utilisation rate nationwide was at 71.1% as at 11.59pm Sunday, while the ICU utilisation rate was at 61.9%.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s GitHub data repository reported that there were no deaths due to Covid-19 on Sunday.
