PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,244 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Sept 3), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Sunday (Sept 4) that this brings the new total to 4,789,552 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 2,244, four are imported cases while 2,240 are local.
The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,202 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 30,197.
Of the active cases, 95.5% or 28,853 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 18 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Only 4.1% of active cases or 1,251 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 75 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.
Of that number, 40 require ventilator support.
