PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,118 new Covid-19 infections on Friday (Aug 26), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Saturday (Aug 27) that this brings the new total to 4,771,512 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 3,118, seven are imported cases while 3,111 are local.
The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,363 recoveries on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 35,737.
Of the active cases, 34,294 individuals or 96% are undergoing home quarantine, while 23 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Only 3.8% of active cases or 1,345 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 75 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.
Of that number, 45 require ventilator support.
