IPOH: Two Royal Malay Regiment officers were killed after a tree fell on them in the Belum rainforest near Gerik on Sunday (July 10).
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the victims, identified as Sjn Mohd Kamal Ramli, 41, and Kpl Muhammad Johari, 31, were patrolling the area prior to the incident at about 1am Sunday.
“We received a report on the incident at about 11.50am on Sunday.
“Both victims were flown out from the army’s operation location there using a helicopter and were sent back to their camp in Sungai Ara, Penang,” he said in a statement late Sunday night.
“Their bodies were then sent to the Penang General Hospital for post mortem,” he said, adding that the incident has been classified as sudden death.
