PETALING JAYA: A new Covid-19 case has been detected at a flood evacuation centre, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said the number of cases detected among flood victims now stood at 418.
He said that of the total, there were 193 cases of infectious disease with 94 of acute respiratory infection, 67 cases of skin disease and 30 of acute gastroenteritis.
There was also a case of hand, foot and mouth disease, and a conjunctivitis case.
Dr Noor Hisham reminded flood victims who have tested positive for Covid-19, or are a close contact, to report their Covid-19 status to rescue personnel.
“Always adhere to the standard operating procedure at flood relief centres and avoid gathering with other victims,” he said, adding that flood victims should maintain a high level of personal hygiene and avoid playing in floodwaters.
Dr Noor Hisham also urged those categorised as a close contact or positive for Covid-19 to be disciplined during quarantine.
On the current Covid-19 statistics, he said all states recorded an infectivity rate of below 1.0 except for Terengganu which stood at 1.0.
The national rate is currently 0.88. Yesterday, the country recorded 2,778 new Covid-19 cases, with 3,539 recoveries.
Of the new infections, 60 cases were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
