HULU KELANG: There was minor confusion at the AU1 Taman Keramat polling centre as voters turned up to vote in the Gombak parliamentary constituency on Saturday (Nov 19).
The area has two voting centres – SK Taman Keramat 1 and SK Taman Keramat 2 – and both are located side-by-side.
One long queue formed outside the school gates as early as 8.15am along with traffic congestion as cars were parked on road shoulders in the area.
Voter Nizar Razali, 51, who already queued, left the line to ask the centre personnel where she should queue.
“I was told there is only one line, and that we will be separated once we reach the school gates,” she said.
This was confirmed by personnel at the polling centre who spoke to The Star.
Senior citizens were told to proceed to the front of the line.
Another voter who declined to be named said there should be signboards placed to inform people.
“It’s barely 9am and the line is already long. Imagine how it will be in the afternoon,” she added.
Polling will close at 6pm.
