A MOTHER and daughter from Batu Gajah were overjoyed to finally receive their proper identity card and birth certificate, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The daughter, who was identified as Durga Devi, had issues getting a MyKad because her disabled mother Yuvaneswari’s birth certificate had mistakes.
Local activist M. Nadarajah helped the duo meet with National Registration Department officials in Ipoh to help resolve Yuvaneswari’s birth certificate issue.
This paved the way for the daughter to obtain her MyKad as well.
Nadarajah said parents must ensure they get their documents as well as their children’s in order as soon as they are born, and to ensure the documents have no mistakes to avoid problems later on.
