Weeks after it was first teased to the public, HONOR has officially launched the HONOR X9a 5G in Malaysia today. As you may recall, the company put a lot of focus on highlighting the phone’s extremely durable screen.
Featuring a Full HD+ AMOLED panel with curved edges, the 6.67-inch display also has a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 800 nits, 1920Hz PWM dimming, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The company claimed that the screen’s durability can match the Kunlun Glass on Huawei Mate50 Pro and has no problem letting us test the claim:

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, the Malaysian variant of the 5G phone comes standard with 256GB internal storage. It also has 8GB of RAM but can be extended further to 13GB via the HONOR RAM Turbo feature.
When it comes to photography, the HONOR X9a 5G relies on a tri-camera module on its back which features a 64MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 5MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera. There is also a 16MP f/2.45 punch-hole selfie camera on the top part of its screen.
Pre-installed with Magic UI 6.1 which is based on Android 16, the new 5G phone also comes with support for dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.1. A substantially-sized 5100mAh battery completes its general specifications which is able to provide up to two days of battery life.
When it comes to continuous usage, the HONOR X9a 5G is able to last up to 29 hours for YouTube Music streaming, 24 hours of YouTube video playback, 19 hours of TikTok browsing, or 11 hours of gaming. The phone is also accompanied by a 40W HONOR SuperCharge charger although the charging time was not revealed by HONOR at the time
In Malaysia, the HONOR X9a 5G can be obtained in either Titanium Silver, Emerald Green, or Midnight Black. Price-wise, the new phone costs RM1,499 and is available through HONOR Malaysia’s online store and physical HONOR Store locations as well as authorized retailers throughout the country.
