KLANG: Pakatan Harapan will be holding discussions on whether to make minor changes to its candidate list following the unveiling of the Barisan Nasional’s line-up, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Pakatan chairman said although they had already announced their candidates, he would discuss the matter with DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
“There are going to be some minor changes in light of the announcement by Barisan,” he told reporters after launching Pakatan’s manifesto for the 15th General Election, reported Bernama.
On Tuesday night, Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the coalition’s candidates contesting in Peninsular Malaysia.
This included Khairy Jamaluddin who was named as Barisan’s hopeful for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.
When asked, Anwar said Pakatan was not threatened by candidates announced by Barisan or Perikatan Nasional.
He also said Pakatan was targeting to win 112 seats, to secure a simple majority.
Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said there had been calls to reinstate former incumbent R. Sivarasa in Sungai Buloh, in order to face the tough fight with Khairy.
Rafizi said he would be raising the feedback, regarding their new Sungai Buloh candidate Datuk R. Ramanan, with Anwar.
“I appreciate all views. The final decision is his as the president of the party,” Rafizi tweeted yesterday.
Anwar had announced on Oct 28 that Ramanan would be contesting the Sungai Buloh seat, which Sivarasa won in the last three elections.
Voters in Sungai Buloh are made up of 66% Malays, 22% Chinese, 11% Indian and 2% others.
