DESPITE excelling in various international competitions, a Year Six pupil was not recognised by his Tamil school in Kajang, claimed his mother.
Malaysia Nanban reported that the mother, who was only identified as Vimala, had said her son won 17 gold, seven silver and three bronze medals in national and international competitions over the last three years.
These included for excelling in innovation, taekwondo, talent, youth idol, music and fashion competitions in Spain, Georgia, England, Indonesia and Thailand.
He will also be representing the country in competitions in New York, Dubai, Singapore and Nigeria in the coming months.
Vimala, who operates a mini-market, claimed that the school, teachers and parent-teacher association (PTA) almost completely ignored his achievements which she said was disappointing.
The school management and PTA did not hesitate to raise funds from students to get expensive gifts for retiring or transferred teachers, she added.
“But why are my son’s achievements being ignored?” she said.
