A TERMITE-infested school in Negri Sembilan has been ordered closed by the Public Works Department, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) chairman Kannan Subramaniam said closure of SJK(T) Ladang Sungai Kelamah was necessary as the premises now posed a serious threat to the safety of the pupils and teachers.
The school received the order after the roofing and other wooden structures of the premises were said to be severely impacted by termite infestation.
It will be closed temporarily until the school is restored.
He said the PTA had highlighted the case to the Education Ministry and state education department numerous times. The PTA had also requested for funds to repair and refurbish the school.
He hopes the ministry and department would act quickly to repair the building so that school could resume soon.
