There is no urgency to invoke the emergency powers in Malaysia, says Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
 
His majesty decision was made after hours of meeting with the Conference of Rulers at the Istana Negara today.
 
In a statement by the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the Palace believed that current administration had taken all necessary steps in combatting the Covid-19 disease, hence the call for the state of emergency is not needed for now.
 
“The King is convinced with the capability of the current administration to implement policies and enforcements to contain the spread of the Covid-19 disease.
 
“As such, Sultan Abdullah believed that there is no requirement, at the time being, for the King to declare the state of emergency in the state, or any part of the nation,” the statement said.
