OnePlus has officially unveiled its next Core Edition smartphone, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. Some of the specs are quite similar to the first Nord CE, but there are some notable improvements as well as a bit of OPPO DNA sprinkled in.
For starters, the 6.43-inch 20:9 1080p AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate is pretty much the same as its predecessor’s but this time it comes with HDR10+ certification and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The new model has a slightly slimmer body at 7.8mm, although the back is still made out of plastic just like the original Nord CE.
On the back, the phone comes with a triple camera array made up of a 64MP f/1.79 main camera, an 8MP 119° ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens while the front sports a 16MP selfie camera. If you notice from the pictures, the rear camera island is curved and blends into the backplate, a design that we’ve seen before on the OPPO Find X3 Pro.
As for the internals, the Nord CE 2 5G ditches Qualcomm Snapdragon for a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor. It is also equipped with up to 8GB of RAM but somehow the phone’s storage option is limited to 128GB for now but then again, its dual-SIM tray does come with a microSD slot, allowing for up to 1TB of storage expansion.
The Nord CE 2 also sports an in-display fingerprint scanner, a single speaker on the bottom, and a 3.5mm headphone jack while also supports Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and as its name implies, 5G network. It is powered by the same 4500mAh battery as per its predecessor but now comes with OPPO’s 65W SuperVOOC charging, which juices up the phone twice as fast.
Available in Gray Mirror and Bahama Blue, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G will be going on sale in India on 22 February for 23,999 Indian Rupees (~RM1300), while Europe will be getting it next month at a much higher price tag of 349 Euros (~RM1600). At this time, OnePlus has not announced the pricing or availability for Malaysia.
