Poor access to treatment in India’s richest state

Posted on Julai 27, 2022 by min

VILLAGERS in India had to carry an injured woman for kilometres across rivers and valleys to seek treatment for her, Makkal Osai reported.

The report pointed out that this happened in the country’s richest state of Maharashtra, which is home to some of the most wealthiest people in India.

Furthermore, Bollywood, the hub of the huge movie-making industry, is located in its capital city of Mumbai.

The woman, identified as Lakshmi Kattal, 40, is from an aboriginal community.

She was apparently injured in an accident in her village in the Palghar district.

As there were no health facilities near their village, the local folk had to carry her in a makeshift stretcher to a hospital in a nearby town.

A video of their harrowing journey walking across rivers and rocky paths went viral online.
