UTUSAN Malaysia reported that a plate of fried rice and egg priced at RM6 became the source of a commotion between customers and employees at a nasi kandar restaurant in Bahau, Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

A recording of the incident went viral on social media.

Jempol OCPD Supt Ho Chang Hook said a man lodged a police report saying he was punched by another man at the cashier counter while trying to pay for the meal.

He said the fight was supposedly sparked after a woman, who ordered the fried rice, complained that at RM6, the plate of fried rice with egg was too expensive.

“The cashier raised his voice at the woman. This angered her son who took a tissue box and threw it at him. The box hit other items on the counter,” he said.

According to him, one of the employees then punched the man before being pulled away by other staff and customers.

Supt Ho said an investigation had been initiated into the incident under Section 323 of the Penal Code and asked witnesses to come forward.

> Popular host and actress Janna Nick is hoping to realise her lifelong dream of building a tahfiz in Kampung Bukit Kechil, Simpor, Kedah.

Janna, 27, told Kosmo! that the tahfiz, to be named Kompleks Tahfiz and Anak Yatim Nurul Jannah, would cost about RM6mil.

“I’ve been dreaming of having my own tahfiz and orphanage for a long time.

“I am working with the Kampung Bukit Kechil Mosque committee and villagers to jointly develop the complex,” she said, adding that the costs incurred so far was RM400,000 – from public contributions – for the purchase of the 0.8ha plot as well as land reclamation work.

“For now, we only have RM500,000 and once the fund exceeds RM2mil, we will start construction.

“Kampung Bukit Kechil was chosen because that is where I grew up, plus I have the trust of the mosque committee, which is made up of my family members,” she said.

Janna said it would need two years to complete the tahfiz once construction kicks off, adding that it would comprise a primary school for pupils from Year One to Six.

“Although the cost is quite high, I believe that with the power of charity, everything will be made easier by God,” she said.
