The rate for zakat fitrah or personal tithe in Selangor this year remains at RM7 per person, according to the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS).

Its chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said the rate is set based on the current price of the grade A of local rice which is being consumed by most Muslims in the state.

However, the LZS welcomes those who wanted to pay more namely at RM14 or RM21 per person, depending on the type of rice they consumed, he told a press conference here today.

Saipolyazan said in light of the current Movement Control Order (MCO) period, those who are less financially capable were allowed to pay their tithes and their dependents according to their means.

He said the tithe payment could be made online via eZakatPay which is accessible through the LZS website; Internet banking; the MyEG portal as well as e-wallet applications such as GoPayz and Boost.

Meanwhile, Saipolyazan said beginning today, those who want to make fidyah payment could do so via ezakatPAY while the public may log into https://ezo.zakatselangor.com.my to check their zakat payment statement.
