A VIDEO clip of a man in India carrying the body of his dead child in the pouring rain to reach their village has touched the hearts of many.
Malaysia Nanban reported that the father, identified only as Ayyappan, is from an aboriginal tribe who lives in a forest area inaccessible by vehicles in Palakkad, Kerala.
When his four-month-old infant died in the district hospital, the hospital arranged for them to be sent home by ambulance. However, the ambulance could only send them to a certain point as the rest of the journey was only possible by foot. There was a hanging bridge there.
Ayyappan ended up carrying his child for 4.8km in the rain to their village.
The heart-wrenching story has once again put the spotlight on the situation faced by the aboriginal community in modern-day India.
> The daily also reported that a new Tamil school in Masai, Johor, is scheduled to start operating next month after a four-year delay.
The school was supposed to open in 2018 but this was postponed for various reasons. Another planned opening in 2021 had to be deferred after a retaining wall collapsed in an adjacent residential area.
