Twins who swapped passports arrested

A PAIR of identical twin sisters from China’s Heilongjiang province have been arrested for using each other’s passports to travel over 30 times to several countries, reported Chinese dailies.

Both Sin Chew Daily and Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that the sisters, who looked remarkably similar to each other, had managed to travel to Japan, Russia and Thailand using the other’s passport.

It all started when one of the sisters could not get her visa approved in time to reunite with her husband, who had returned to Japan.

Local police said she then turned to her sibling, whose visa was approved, and managed to pass off as the passport holder to travel to Japan and Russia.

Altogether, she managed to leave China for over 30 times.

Seeing how easy it was for her twin to pass off as herself, the other sister then flew to Thailand and several other countries on her sibling’s passport.

Police, who discovered the twins’ illegal travel history earlier this year, had told them to return to China late last month to be investigated for violating the country’s borders.

> Oriental Daily reported that Malaysian singer-songwriter Penny Tai missed her family in her hometown in Segamat, Johor.

Tai, who is active in the entertainment scene overseas, especially in Taiwan and China, recently released her album, Passive Audience, after six years.

In a music video, she featured some Malaysian delicacies such as durian and love letters, prompting some fans to ask if she missed her home.

“Definitely missing home. Due to the pandemic, I have not been home for three years,” she said in her reply on social media.
